Alla scoperta di Genova

Per anni ho pensato che Genova fosse solo una grigia città portuale, e che l’unica cosa da vedere fosse il famoso acquario.

Mi sbagliavo, e mi sbagliavo di grosso.

Genova è una città dai mille volti, che si perde, e vi farà perdere, in un dedalo di carruggi, facendovi assaporare tutti i suoi profumi e colori, in un vero e proprio caleidoscopio di culture.

La parola d’ordine è varietà, infatti in questa città colorata e affascinante, tutto è estremamente vario, dalle culture, ai numerosi edifici storici, alle chiese, basta girare l’angolo per passare da ampie ed eleganti vie a piccoli e bui carruggi.

E tutte queste differenze si fondono in modo eccezionale, creando un perfetto mix.

Il Palazzo Ducale, un tempo residenza dei dogi, ora è sede di numerose mostre ed esposizioni. Fino al 27 aprile potrete visitare la mostra dedicata a Edvard Munch, il costo del biglietto è di 9€. Sulla destra del Palazzo Ducale sorge la Chiesa del Gesù, che custodisce tra le tante opere, anche due dipinti di Rubens.

La Cattedrale di San Lorenzo

Piazza de Ferrari, la principale piazza di Genova, ospita spesso importanti manifestazioni.

Palazzo della Nuova Borsa di Genova, maestoso edificio in stile Liberty che ospitò dal 1912 al 1998 la Borsa Valori di Genova.

Via XX Settembre, per gli amanti dello shopping, ricorda un po’ corso Torino a Milano.

Piazza delle Erbe, luogo di incontro dei giovani genovesi a orario aperitivo.

Via Garibaldi, una delle vie più belle di Genova. Io ci sono finita per puro caso, pensavo di essermi persa e invece… meraviglia delle meraviglie, ecco una serie di antichi palazzi un tempo proprietà di ricche famiglie genovesi, ora sede di musei, del comune e di banche prestigiose. Un salto nel passato da non perdere!

Proprio passeggiando per via Garibaldi, guardate cosa ho trovato guardando la vetrina di una famosa libreria di libri antichi? L’antenato del Journal de Voyage, con le guide dei viaggiatori del 700 e dell’800!

Porta Soprana, un tempo era la principale porta d’accesso della città.

Allora, cosa ne pensate? Avete anche voi cambiato idea sul capoluogo ligure?

Vi saluto con questo bel tramonto su Genova e per tutti i golosi, l’elenco di alcuni posticini per niente turistici, ma che vi lasceranno con la pancia piena e il sorriso sulle labbra!

• Ristorante Vegia Zena, Vico Serriglio, 15, in zona Porto Antico. Locale molto carino e a buon prezzo, ottimi sia i primi sia i secondi, ovviamente tutti a base di pesce.
• Ristorante Il Genovese, via Galata 35, famoso soprattutto per il pesto e tutte le altre prelibatezze tipiche della cucina genovese.
• Focaccia e Dintorni, via Canneto il Curto, per assaggiare una delle migliori focacce di Genova.
• Gran Ristoro, via di Sotto Ripa, panini di tutti i tipi con qualsiasi salume, formaggio o salsa, ideale per uno spuntino veloce.
• U Gelato du Carruggiu, via San Bernardo 91. Il gelato più buono che abbia mai mangiato, i gusti cambiano spesso perché vengono utilizzati tutti ingredienti di stagione, ci sono gusti davvero particolari come lo yogurt greco, le arachidi salate e il rosmarino, ma avrete davvero l’imbarazzo della scelta e il gestore, sempre molto gentile, vi farà assaggiare tutti i gusti che vorrete, prima di scegliere. Davvero ottimo!
• Pizzeria La Sosta degli Artisti, via di San Donato. Pizza molto buona, vi consiglio di prenotare perché i posti sono pochi e c’è sempre la fila!

THE DISCOVERY OF GENOA

For years I thought that Genoa was just a gray port city, and that the only thing to see was the famous aquarium.

I was wrong, and I was wrong big.

Genoa is a city of many faces, it gets lost, and you will lose, in a maze of narrow streets, making you savor all its flavors and colors, a veritable kaleidoscope of cultures.

The key word is variety, in fact in this fascinating and colorful city, everything is extremely diverse, with different cultures, the many historic buildings, churches, just around the corner, to go from large and elegant streets to small and dark alleys.

And all these differences come together in an exceptional way, creating a perfect mix.

The Ducal Palace, once the residence of the Doges, is now home to numerous shows and exhibitions. Until the 27th April you can visit the exhibition dedicated to Edvard Munch, the cost of the ticket is 9€. On the right of the Palazzo Ducale there is the Church of Jesus, which houses among other works, including two paintings by Rubens.

Via Garibaldi, one of the most beautiful streets of Genoa. I will have finished there by pure chance, I thought I missed but ... wonder of wonders, here is a series of old buildings once owned by wealthy Genoese families, now home to museums, the municipality and prestigious banks . A jump in the past not to be missed!

Just walking along Via Garibaldi, look what I found looking at the window of a famous library of ancient books? The ancestor of the Journal de Voyage, which guides the travelers of the 700 and the 800!

Porta Sovrana, was once the main gateway of the city.

• Restaurant Vegia Zena, in Vico Serriglio, 15, in the Old Port area. Very nice restaurant and good prices, excellent both the first course and the second one, of course, all fish.
• The restaurant Il Genovese, via Galata 35, most famous for pesto and all the other delicious food from Genoa.
• Focaccia e Dintorni, via Canneto il Curto, to taste one of the best focaccia in Genoa.
• Gran Ristoro, via di Sotto Ripa, sandwiches of all kinds with any cold meat, cheese or sauce, ideal for a quick snack.
• U Gelato du Carruggiu, Via San Bernardo 91. The best ice cream I've ever eaten, tastes change often because they are used all the ingredients of the season, there are very particular tastes like greek yogurt, salt peanuts, and rosemary, but you really are spoiled for choice and the manager, always very polite, let you to taste all the flavors you want, before you choose. Really great!
• Pizzeria La Sosta degli Artisti, Via San Donato. Very good pizza, you have to book as places are few and there's always a line!
